Our leading company in the development and manufacture of products based on specialty graphite and composite materials is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Team Lead to manage our site laboratory team. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating material tests, ensuring the functionality of test and measurement equipment, and implementing new methods and test procedures to meet in- and external customer requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

· Manage the laboratory team at the site, including functional and disciplinary management

· Coordinate material tests at the site laboratory and with external laboratories, and plan tests in close cooperation with quality management

· Ensure the functionality of test and measurement equipment, and maintain required measurement accuracy

· Develop and implement new methods and test procedures to meet in- and external customer requirements

· Ensure maintenance and calibration of test equipment and test equipment monitoring

· Manage document management and process responsibility for the laboratory

· Ensure laboratory area safety compliance for all personnel and equipment, including hazardous materials responsibility for the laboratory area

· Summarize and present results to the management team and to internal and external customers

· Train laboratory staff

Qualifications:

· Bachelor of Science degree (BS) in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, or Physics from a four-year accredited college or university

· Minimum of 3 years of related experience in materials testing/characterization in an internationally active industrial company

· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business, professional, scientific, and technical journals, technical specifications, and government regulations

· Experience in managing direct reports

· Software proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint) and statistical analysis programs such as Mini-tab preferred

Work Environment:

This position works in both an office environment and a noisy plant environment, with regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and high temperature equipment. The employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, heat, or dangerous chemicals.

Physical Demands:

The employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position requires close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation and Benefits:

Annual salary of $85,000 – $110,000 DOE, with excellent benefits including generous PTO, medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
